Etrude elated by award

Abel Etrude played just two games for the club on his return from a long injury layoff but that was enough for him to win the inaugural club's player of the month for October.

Etrude topped the voting polling 41% of the vote ahead of teammates center back Murushid Juuko who managed 31% of the votes and midfielder Yaya Mahad Kakooza who got 28% to his obvious joy.

"I am so happy to have won the Express FC Player of the month for October.

This will surely motivate me more to double my effort going forward.

"I didn’t start the first two games but I was certain my time will come and when it did I gave it my all," Etrude said of the recognition.

"I also want to appreciate the technical team and my teammates for making me better and the fans too for voting me,” he added.

Etrude featured in two league outings in October with his first coming on matchday three away to BUL FC', he helped the team earn maximum points and picked up his first Pilsner MOTM award.

Matchday four saw him put up another great display at home against Vipers SC also earning him the Pilsener MOTM Award.

But such was influence that assistant head coach James Odoch believed Express could have picked maximum points had Etrude stayed on the pitch in the 1-1draw against Vipers.

"We controlled the game up to the point when Etrude went off injured," Odoch said after the encounter.

Express are seventh on the 16-team log with seven points after five games.

They return to action after the international break against archrivals SC Villa on November 20.
