Betway Kobs return to Sevens action

The last two weekends have had no rugby action locally because of a break that allowed Uganda to take part in the Safari Sevens in Nairobi, Kenya.

The team, captained by Betway Kobs’ Ian Munyani, finished in a respectable fifth place.

Attention now turns back to the National Sevens Championship as action resumes this weekend with the Rujumba Sevens at Kings Park, Bweyogerere.

Kobs will be looking to put one hand on the trophy by winning a fourth straight circuit.

The defending champions have been victorious in the Mileke Sevens, Gulu Sevens, and the Soroti Sevens.

They carry an 11-point advantage over second placed Black Pirates. The Blue Army are drawn in Pool A alongside Jinja Hippos, Rams, and Rams II.

Soroti Sevens losing finalists Heathens are in Pool B with Mongers, Rhinos, and Jaguars.

After the Rujumba Sevens, action will move to Kabale for the Kigezi Sevens before the climax at Legends with the Coronation Sevens.

Kobs top the log with 66 points while Pirates are second on 55. Heathens have garnered 53.
