Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo will look to close in on top spot in the MotoGP World Championship riders’ standings at the Grand Prix of Europe, set for Sunday 8 November at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia.

Quartararo is second on the standings with 123 points – 14 off the pace set by leaders Joan Mir of Suzuki, and five ahead of third-placed Maverick Vinales of Yamaha.

The 21-year-old Frenchman, who has three wins to his name this season, struggled to find pace at the back-to-back Aragon and Teruel Grands Prix last month, finishing in 18th and eighth place respectively.

The results saw him lose the championship lead to Mir (who claimed successive third-place finishes), but the Yamaha rider will be confident that the Circuit Ricardo Tormo will better suit his style and bike.

“We know Portimao [the venue for the season-ending race in Portugal] and Valencia will be great [for us],” said Quartararo, who insists that he is not feeling the pressure of battling for the title.

"I have nothing to lose. It's only our second year in MotoGP. "If we have the potential to be up there, I will fight for it. I think we have the potential, we will not give up, give our 100 percent.”
