National league holders Nemostars Volleyball Club will face off with losing finalists UCU Doves in the opening encounter of the season Friday night at Lugogo.
Nemostars made history last month by becoming the first Ugandan side to break the quarterfinal barrier at the CAVB Club Championship.
The African meet also saw UCU make their debut at the championship.
Nemostars, who have won the last three league titles, have already made their intentions known by adding significant signings to the team.
Centre blocker Bernard Malinga and libero Emmanuel Elanyu are the standout names on the team.

The two have already been thrown in and got the opportunity of playing with the team at the continental showpiece in Cairo, Egypt.
Malinga joined the side from Matrixx while Elanyu joined from rivals KAVC. Nicholas Agaba and Timothy Kyambalangu are the other new faces on the team.
Patrick Luganda has also made a return to the club.
Meanwhile UCU has maintained the same team that won the National Club's Championship and made the league finals last year. Defending champions Nkumba will play Ndejje Elites in the ladies' category.
