Mubuya to reinforce Eagles nest

A leaking defense was among the first issues Wasswa Bbosa sought to address after replacing George Ssimwogerere as Express head coach at the tail end of last season.

The team had let in 33 goals after 20 games before finishing with the joint worst defensive record among the teams that retained their Uganda Premier League status.

In his five league games in charge, Bbosa's side managed two clean sheets conceding four goals in the process.

While there was a significant improvement in that regard, there has been no let up with the club shoring up the defense with further reinforcements.

The latest player to join is the experienced defender Dennis Mubuya Mugerwa who joins on a two-year contract from Tooro United.

Mugerwa who is predominantly a right back managed two assists in the seven games he featured for Tooro United and before the stopover in Fort Portal, “Nesta” like he’s commonly known by mates also played for Water FC from 2015 to 2019.

I am glad to finally join this big club, as a defender I know it’s important that me and my colleagues (at the back and going forward) we work as a unit to get results,” Mubuya revealed.

He joins what should be a much changed Express side next season following the signing of Richard Bbosa another right back as well as goalkeepers Denis Otim and Cryspus Kusiima plus midfielders Isaac Nsengiyunva and Abel Eturude.

The others are Godfrey Lwesibawa, Ibrahim Kayiwa, Mahad Kakooza, Baker Sakah, Faisal Ssekyanzi and forwards Charles Musiige and Kiragga Mustafa.
