‘Las Chivas’ earned their spot in the CWC thanks to a triumph in the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League – they picked up their second continental crown by defeating Canada’s Toronto FC over two legs back in April.

Guadalajara manager Jose Cardozo will hope his team produce their best in the UAE.

Guadalajara’s team is much changes since then, but manager Jose Cardozo will still be confident of a strong showing. First, though, they must get past Japan’s Kashima Antlers in their second round match, set for December 15 in Al Ain.

The prize for overcoming the Asian Champions League winners will be a place in the semifinal against Spanish giants Real Madrid in Abu Dhabi on December 19.

Guadalajara winger Isaac Brizuela will be key to their hopes at the CWC.

The Mexican side will look to winger Isaac Brizuela – one of the key figures in their CONCACAF Champions League triumph – for inspiration as they hope to shock the football world in the UAE.

The other semifinalwill see Argentina’s River Plate take on one of three clubs: local representatives Al Ain, New Zealand’s Team Wellington or African champions Esperance de Tunis. The final is set for Abu Dhabi on December 22.
