Rugby Africa Launches International Bronze Cup


Rugby Africa has launched the 2018 Rugby Africa Bronze Cup. The event is set to bring together countries competing to get into the Rugby Africa Silver Cup next year.

Hosts Ghana, Lesotho, Mauritius and Rwanda will face off at the Nduom Sports Stadium in Elmina-Ghana starting Wednesday 7 with the event coming to an end on Saturday May 12.

The Bronze Cup kick starts the 2018 season of senior fifteen a side rugby with the Gold and Silver Cups getting underway starting June.

The winners of the two matches will play in the final on Saturday 12 May at 3 pm while the losers will play for the 3rd place playoff at 1:30 pm.

The winner of the Bronze Cup will automatically be promoted to the 2019 Rugby Africa Silver Cup.

The Bronze Cup also coincides with a Rugby Africa Super Week whereby a contingent of World Rugby Trainers will be in Accra to present courses on Mass Participation, L1 Match Officiating and L2 Coaching.

Meanwhile with the Gold Cup only weeks away from kickoff, Kenya have already named their 35-man squad that will play in the 2018 campaign.

The Simbas are set to start their journey away to Morocco on June 23 before hosting Zimbabwe and the Uganda Rugby Cranes in Nairobi on June 30 and July 7 respectively.
