Marc Marquez chases yet more success at GP of the Americas

2019 MotoGP season, Round 3

Grand Prix of the Americas

Circuit of the Americas, Austin, Texas

Sunday 14 April

Marc Marquez will chase yet more success in Austin when the Grand Prix of the Americas, Round 3 of the 2019 Moto GP season, is held on Sunday 14 April.

In a streak which stretches back to 2013, the Spanish rider has won six successive races at the Circuit of the Americas. In fact, no other rider has yet stood atop the MotoGP podium at the Austin track.

Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso

Marquez claimed victory at the previous round of the championship in Argentina, a result which was preceded by a second-place finish at the season-opener in Qatar. He leads the riders’ title standings.

His nearest challenger – and the rider with the best chance of beating him in Austin for the first time – is Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso. The Italian won the opening round and was third in Argentina at the end of last month.

Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi.

Veteran Valentino Rossi will also be aiming to be up at the front of the pack, with the 40-year-old demonstrating his race craft with a second-place finish on his Yamaha in Argentina.

The likes of Alex Rins (Suzuki), Danilo Petrucci (Ducati) and Maverick Vinales (Yamaha) are also contenders for top finishes, while Marquez’s teammate Jorge Lorenzo will be desperate to improve his form after 13th and 12th place finishes thus far.
