GOALKEEPERS

 

Joe Hart

 
The former England first-choice goalkeeper achieved a lot of success during his time with City as he won many club and personal accolades.
 
With over 100 Premier League clean sheets, Hart holds the joint record for the most Premier League Golden Glove awards (four). In his time with City he won two league titles.
 
The towering shot-stopper is highly regarded for his handling, aerial ability and command of the area on the high ball.
 

Ederson

 
The Brazil international is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world and is currently City's first-choice keeper.
 
Ederson played a key role in helping the Citizens win the Premier League and EFL Cup in his first season in England, and won a domestic treble the following season.
 
He is a physically imposing keeper, who possesses both physical strength and excellent reflexes and shot-stopping abilities between the posts.
 
“It’s credit to him. It’s not easy coming from another country. I wouldn’t know that but from speaking to the boys in the past who have come over to the Premier League," City defender John Stones said.
 
"it’s a different culture, different language, and he’s settled quickly.“He’s speaking to us on the pitch - he’s a vocal presence and a presence as a person, which is credit to him.”
 

CENTRAL DEFENDERS

 

Vincent Kompany
 

The former Belgium captain is one of the most decorated captains in the history of the club having led the team to many trophies.
 
Kompany led the Citizens to four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and four English League Cups between 2011 and 2019.
 
He is a physically strong centre back, with excellent aerial ability and mobility, as well as good technique and distribution.
 

Joleon Lescott

 
The former England international had five successful seasons with City where he won four major trophies between 2009 and 2014.
 
Lescott moved to City in 2009 for a reported £22 million and proved his quality as he helped the team win two league titles, a FA Cup and a League Cup.
 
The towering centre back is known for his tackling abilities, man-marking skills and aerial prowess.

Aymeric Laporte

 
The France international has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League and is City's current first-choice centre back.
 
Laporte was part of the side which won the first domestic treble in English football in 2019 and looks destined to win more trophies with the club as a key player.
 
He has proved to be a world class centre-back, who can play from the back and is also a strong, powerful and dominant in the air.

Pablo Zabaleta

 
The Argentina international was a reliable right-back during his nine-year spell with City where he made 333 appearances for the club.
 
Zabaleta won all of English football's major honours: the FA Cup (2011), the Premier League (2012 and 2014), the League Cup (2014 and 2016) and the Community Shield (2012).
 
He operated on both sides of the pitch as a full-back and he is effective both defensively and offensively.
 

Kyle Walker

 
The England international is one of the best right-backs in the Premier League and has played his best football at City.
 
Walker has helped the Citizens clinch two Premier League titles, a FA Cup and three English League Cups as an influential right-back.
 
The former Tottenham Hotspur player is gifted with pace, good technical ability, as well as good distribution and crossing ability.

Aleksander Kolarov

 
The Serbia international arguably played his best football at City and was named the Serbian Footballer of the Year in 2011.
 
Kolarov spent seven years with the Citizens between 2010 and 2017 where he helped the club win six trophies, including two league trophies.
 
He is known for his overlapping attacking runs on the wing, powerful ball-striking ability with his left foot and accuracy from free-kicks.
 

Gael Clichy

 
The France international was one of City's senior players as they clinched their maiden Premier League title in 2012.
 
Clichy joined the Citizens in 2011 and helped the club clinch two Premier League titles (2011/12 and 2013/14) and two League Cups (2014 and 2016).
 
He was predominantly left-footed but naturally right-footed, and possesses almost unrivalled stamina.
 

CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS

 

Yaya Toure

 
The former Ivory Coast captain excelled as a box-to-box midfielder at City and has been regarded as one of the world's best players in his position.
 
Toure scored a number of key goals, most notably the only goals in the 2011 FA Cup semi-final and final. He also helped City earn their first league title in 44 years.
 
His key strengths are his passing range, vision and physical ability. He is also gifted with good technique and ball control.
 

Fernandinho

 
The Brazil international has been a reliable servant for City as a midfielder and central defender, and has also captained the team on many occasions.
 
Since joining the Citizens in 2013 he has since won three Premier League titles, among other trophies including the FA Cup.
 
He is well known for his blistering pace and ability to shoot from long distances, as well as his energy, technique, movement and work-rate.
 

Kevin De Bruyne

 
The Belgium international is widely considered among the best players in the world and is often described as a "complete" footballer.
 
De Bruyne has won two Premier League titles, four League Cups and an FA Cup with the Citizens.
 
Recognised for his exceptional passing and shooting ability, as well as dribbling, he plays mainly as a central or an attacking midfielder.
 

RIGHT MIDFIELDERS

 

David Silva

 
The Spain international and City star is considered by many to be one of the best midfielders in the world and in the history of the Premier League.
 
Sliva has won two FA Cups, five League Cups and four Premier League titles.
 
The attacking midfielder-cum-winger is predominantly left-footed and boasts excellent passing ability and dribbling skills.
 

Bernardo Silva

 
The Portugal international has established himself as one of the best-attacking midfielders in the world at City.
 
Silva won the Premier League and EFL Cup with the Citizens in his first season in England, following this up with a domestic treble the following season.
 
He is an elegant, creative left-footed playmaker, with a slender build who is capable of playing in several attacking and midfield positions, including right-wing.
 
 

LEFT MIDFIELDERS

 

Raheem Sterling

 
The English star has proved to be a world-class winger. Sterling has played an instrumental role in helping the Citizens win back-to-back Premier League titles in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons.
 
Known for his pace, low centre of gravity and dribbling skills, Sterling possesses considerable upper-body strength which aids him in withstanding challenges and retaining possession.
 

Leroy Sane

 
The Germany international has become one of the most dangerous wingers in the Premier League while on the books of City.
 
Sane was voted the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2017/18 after helping City win the league and English League Cup, a feat the side bettered by winning a domestic treble the following season.
 
Blessed with an educated left foot, Sane also boasts pace and dribbling skills.
 
“Playing in the middle he can do it. But I think he’s better out wide," City manager Pep Guardiola said. 
“I’m not saying he can’t (play in middle) but at the moment we have better players to do that job. But Leroy is best playing in the world out wide. I’d prefer to use him where he is strongest, he’s an incredible player.”

Sergio Aguero

 
The Argentina and City star is widely considered as one of the best strikers of his generation.

Nicknamed Kun, Aguero is an all centre forward who has pace, goalscoring ability, good positioning in the area and technique.

The Argentine legend played his best football at City where he hit the back of the net 58 times in 113 league matches between 2009 and 2013.
 
Tevez's energy, skill and goal scoring rate made him an indispensable player for the Citizens where he helped the club win the 2011/12 league title.
 
He is quick, tenacious, powerful, hard-working, dynamic and versatile.
 

Edin Dzeko

 
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international was a prolific marksman during his five-year spell with the Citizens.
 
Dzeko helped the Citizens win two league titles and is the first player ever to score 50 goals in three of Europe's top five major leagues.
 
He is known for his physical presence, strength, aerial ability and for shooting the ball with both feet equally well.
