Manchester City will take on newly crowned champions Liverpool FC in the
Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium on July 02.
The Citizens succumbed to a narrow 2-1 defeat to Chelsea away in their previous league match which was played on June 25.
Prior to their clash with Chelsea, the Citizens were undefeated in two matches in the league having recorded two successive wins.
They are undefeated in their last seven home matches in the Premier League having registered six wins and one draw.
Pep Guardiola, the City manager, says they will try to perform well in their remaining matches after their defeat to Chelsea.

“We are going to try. We are going to try and qualify for the Champions League next season and then we can play in it in August," Guardiola said.

Meanwhile, Liverpool secured an emphatic 4-0 win over Crystal Palace at home in their last league match which was played on June 24.
As a result, the Reds are undefeated in their last three matches in the league having recorded one draw and two wins.
However, they are winless in their last two away matches in the Premier League having registered one defeat and one draw.
The last meeting between City and Liverpool in a league match was on 10 November 2019.
The Reds thrashed the Citizens 3-1 in an encounter which was played at the Anfield Stadium.
