Manchester City will take on Real Madrid in a
UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg clash at the Etihad Stadium on 07 August 2020.
The English champions secured an impressive 2-1 win over Real in the first-leg encounter which was played in Spain.
The victory extended the Citizens' unbeaten run to eight matches in the Champions League having registered six victories and two draws.
They are also undefeated at home in their last seven home matches in the tournament having recorded six consecutive wins and one draw.
Ilkay Gundogan, the City midfielder, is confident that they can cope with the blow of facing Real Madrid without their key striker Sergio Aguero.
“It is definitely disappointing to not have Sergio available. We wish him a speedy recovery and to have him back as soon as possible, because he is such an important player for us," Gundogan said.
“We have to deal with injuries, as we did in the season with Aymeric [Laporte] not being available. We have to do the same now with Sergio’s situation. I am sure we will be able to do that.
“Other players will have to step up. We have Gabby [Jesus], who is an amazing player, but we also have different players who can play as a false nine. I am sure we will be able to deal with it, but of course, we will miss him.”
Meanwhile, Real are keen to avenge their defeat to City and secure their place in the quarter-finals.
The reigning Spanish champions saw their five-match unbeaten run in the Champions League come to an end when they lost to City in the first-leg clash at home.
However, the Whites are undefeated in their last two matches on the road having recorded two successive wins as the visitors in the competition.
The last time City hosted Real clashed in a competitive match was on 26 April 2016.
The two teams played to a 0-0 draw in the Champions League match at the Etihad Stadium.
