Manchester City will square off with Newcastle United in an
English Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium on July 08.
This will be the 40th league meeting between the two former English champions in the Premier League era.
City have the upper hand in this fixture having recorded 23 wins compared to Newcastle's eight, while eight matches ended in a draw.
The two teams played to a 2-2 draw in their last league meeting which was played on 30 November 2019 at St James' Park.
Raheem Sterling, the City winger, says they are using their remaining Premier League matches to prepare for their FA Cup and UEFA Champions League games.
“As the manager said, we came out here and tried to do our best. The next season starts today, and I think that we have done well," Sterling said.

Meanwhile, City thumped a hapless Liverpool FC side 4-0 in their last home match in the league which was played on July 02.
The win extended the Citizens' unbeaten run to eight matches at home having recorded seven wins and one draw.
While Newcastle secured an impressive 4-1 win over AFC Bournemouth in their last away match in the league which was played on July 01.
As a result, the Magpies are undefeated in their last two matches on the road having registered two successive wins.
