London ticket thrills Amule

When he started staking bets consistently with Betway, little did Isaac Amule know that he would reap more than returns on his tickets.

At the weekend, Amule achieved even bigger. He was announced as the lucky winner of tickets for two to watch the Premier League in December. Amule, an accountant by profession, will watch the derby between West Ham and Chelsea at the London Stadium on December 9. “It really means a lot,” a delighted Amule said after receiving his dummy ticket from Betway’s country manager Anton Opperman on Friday. “I received a phone call from Betway about three weeks ago that I had won a ticket to England,” said the 31-year-old. “I did not expect it. I support Newcastle United but I will enjoy it (the trip).”

He was entered into the draw after placing a bet of any stake via on any soccer game via www.betway.ug during the August 10 - September 10 campaign. The campaign also had winners taking daily cash prizes to the value of Shs200000 won on all soccer bets. “I just placed a VIP ticket and came out as a lucky winner. I hope to have a handshake with some of the players there. It would be good if I can take a look at the Wembley Stadium.”

The 31-year-old started betting early this year. “I just do a bit of research and then stake my bets mostly on weekends. Sometimes, I place Shs50000 on one match and I win about Shs100000 in return. It is so easy on the Betway site. A time, I bet to pass time.” Interestingly, he does not go to the stadium often. “I watched Uganda Cranes when they lost 1-0 to Togo during the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers. Sometimes, when I am free, I come to Lugogo and support my club KCCA.” he added.
