Kusiima targets more clean sheets at Express

Express Football Club announced goalkeeper Cryspus Kusiima as their first new signing ahead of the 2020-2021 Uganda Premier League tentatively set to kick-off on October 17.

The announced via its digital platforms that Kusiima joined the Red Eagles on a two-year deal from Tooro United.

“I joined Express FC because it’s a big brand and club, the target is to create as many clean sheets in my case am looking at 18 because I know if I achieve that, we shall be in the top three a position I want us to finish in as well,” Kusiima told the club website.

Last season, Express finished ninth with 31 points from 25 matches but the side managed just six clean sheets. They conceded 37 goals, seven more than they scored.

Kusiima’s target would mean he would have to triple last season’s team efforts and also beat off competition from first choice custodian Mathias Muwanga. Muwanga struggled with an injury last term.

“I know I’ve joined a team with competitive players but the good thing is it is healthy competition and I also believe if we work as a unit, we shall all win as a team” Kusiima spoke of the competition for the posts.

Meanwhile, the club announced Moroccan Hamza Elkayal as the winner of their kit design competition but CEO Isaac Mwesigwa says the club is not about to release a new kit yet.
