Weekend Results:

Makerere impis 03-43 Black Pirates
Rams 00-43 Betway Kobs
Jinja Hippos 08-31 Hima Cement Heathens
Plascon mongers 17-06 Toyota Buffaloes

Betway Kobs opened their national league campaign with a commanding 43-00 win over Makerere Rams on Saturday.

Adrian Kasiito, Justin Kimono, Alhajji Manano and Davis Kyewalabye all crossed the white line for the Legends outfit to record their first victory. Kobs' win was the biggest on the weekend and took them straight top of the log after one game. Having finished third last season, the target for the 12-time winners is to get back to winning ways.

Under the reign of new coach Ronnie Lutakome, Kobs have already won the national sevens championship and will have their eyes glued on the league title that they lost to rivals Hima Cement Heathens. Uganda Cup Champions Buzz Pirates won their first game of the season with a 43-03 win over Makerere Impis. Bobby Musinguzi's charges have been tipped by many to disrupt the status quo and challenge for this season's championship.

Raymond Emanzi, Baron Kasozi (2), Richard Odokere, Haruna Muhammed, Dan Kidega and James Mugisha all touched down for the Sea Robbers. Joel Anguyo added four conversions. Defending champions Heathens made the longest trip as they visited Jinja Hippos and they returned with maximum points after a 31-08 victory.
For Toyota Buffaloes, the trip to "The House of Pain" in Entebbe ended in a
17-06 loss at the hands of Plascon Mongers.

Shell Rimula Rhinos set the ball rolling with a 46-26 triumph over Warriors on Friday.
