Kisala targets Tooro double as league resumes

Express play their opening second game in the Startimes Uganda Premier League this evening after making the trip to Fort portal to play Tooro.

The game will be the first time fans get to see the club’s five mid-season recruits unveiled on Friday at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium.

The Red Eagles completed the first round in seventh position and come into the game having also recorded a 2-0 win over their hosts earlier in the season.

Head coach Kefa Kisala believes his side has the ability to get maximum points against one of the league’s most experienced sides that is under Wasswa Bossa also a former Express head coach.

“I usually say that it’s all about managing the 90 minutes those things of they have not lost at home are history and history has no room in football. So we are going to handle the 90 minutes on that day very well we have to do all football related things well and we shall leave Tooro victorious,” Kisala told the club website.

Kisala also believes there are no easy games particularly in the second round where every team has something to play for.

“The second round is going to be tight as you can see. It is usually divided into three: those who want to win the trophy, those who want to retain what they have or add a little and those fighting relegation so there’s no weak team you are going to find, either on top, mid or bottom of the table so the league won’t be easy most especially in the second round,” he said.

Team news

Kisala also revealed four of the five mid-season signings Brian Umony, Sadiq Ssekyembe, Goffin Oyirwoth and Ivan Ocholit were in contention to make their debuts for the club.

Midfielder Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye is expected to miss out having failed to complete paperwork of his loan move from Vipers in time.

With most of the new signings playing upfront, competition for places is expected to come from the forward department with Umony, leading scorer Tony Odur (four goals), Michaeal Birungi, Eric Kambale and Cholit all available for selection.

They play a Tooro side that finished 10th and is unbeaten in their past six games in all competitions while Express won two and drew two of their previous four games.
