At the start of the new Uganda Premier League season, Eric Kambale promised to fight for his place on the Express team.
The fact that he had missed the first round of the previous season put him in a tough spot in selection as Frank Kalanda had led the scoring for the Red Eagles.
However, his two goals and 5 assists in the first round so far put him in a good place and he has become a permanent fixture in Wasswa Bbosa's team sheets.
The calm and collected Kambale is happy with proceedings but promises that there's still a lot to expect of him and Express.
"I am so glad I've registered this success in the first round," the forward said in a recent interview with the club's media team.
"I would like to appreciate the club management, coaches, and my teammates for all the support," he added.
"I know I am capable of doing much more along with this team."
Express only lost their first game of the season on matchday 13 after a 1-0 defeat to UPDF in Bombo on Tuesday.
The target for Express, as revealed by Kambale, was to finish the first round unbeaten.
Having drawn with champions Vipers and KCCA, beaten both SC Villa and URA, the Wankulukuku outfit fell to UPDF.
Kambale's two goals have come against Bright Stars and KCCA but it is his general contribution on the pitch that has stood out.
With striker George Senkaaba now out injured, Kambale will be expected to add more goals to his game to help the team win games.
Express might be in a better place compared to the last few seasons but winning silverware is what makes sense for the fans.
The pursuit of that success is what Wasswa Bbosa promised and like Kambale many other members of the squad seem to believe it's a possibility.
