Express FC striker Frank Kalanda is convinced he can return to the national team and will do whatever it takes to see that happen.
The lanky forward fell out of the Cranes set up and only returned to Ugandan football last season.
Kalanda was part of the triumphant Uganda Cranes at the 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Ethiopia.
His moves to URA FC and Soana saw goals dry up for the striker, who then moved to Rwanda’s AS Kigali before returning home last year to join the Red Eagles.
At Express, his eleven goals helped the club finish ninth and he now demands more of himself.
“I am happy about last season's performance which was down to team work but for this coming campaign I want to return to the Cranes set up," Kalanda told Express media team in an interview.
"I can only do that by scoring more goals and I'm sure I can do that," he added.
With eleven goals, Kalanda was the team's top scorer But Express' ninth placed finish is not one the club is proud of.
The new Uganda Premier League season is tentatively a few weeks away and Express has been in the market to get more players to complement Kalanda.
Nine players have already been recruited and Kalanda believes they have what it takes to help the club push for a better position next season.
"I think the technical team has spotted the good players and they are capable of handling the pressure.
"This is a big club. We welcome them and assure them that we shall help them adjust accordingly."
Goalkeepers Denis Otim and Cryspus Kusiima, centre back Richard Bbosa, midfielders Godfrey Lwesibawa, Isaac Nsengiyunva and Abel Eturude, winger Baker Sakah and forward Mustafa Kiragga are some of the new faces in the team so far.
