It is raining goals in the Startimes Uganda Premier League season already.
Only three match days have been concluded but the numbers are good for some of the forwards in the league.
KCCA's Brian Ahebwa and Sam Ssenyonjo, BUL's Joseph Ssemujju and UPDF's Brian Kalumba have all registered hattricks already.
Express forward Frank Kalanda has also scored twice already in a game less and has set his eye on this season's golden boot.
"I want to thank God for the opportunity of being able to score in two straight games," Kalanda revealed after the game against Bright Stars.
Having converted a penalty against Onduparaka for the Club's first goal of the season, Kalanda again opened the scoring inside three minutes against Bright Stars on Saturday.
"I'm focussing and working towards being the top scorer this season," the lanky forward added.
This season's golden boot contest is expected to be a tight one with most forwards hitting the ground running already.
Ahebwa and Ssenyonjo already have five goals from three matches while Muhammad Shaban marked his return to football with a goal of his own for Vipers.
Police's Ben Ocen is also banging in the goals having got a brace against newly promoted MYDA and a hattrick against Kitara.
Kalanda's strike partner Eric Kambale also found the back of the net to get Express their second on Saturday.
Having been Express' top scorer with 11 goals from last season, Kalanda will now combine with Kambale to help the Red Eagles move up the table.
"The competition we have amongst ourselves as players is healthy. Everyone knows the target at hand is to win silverware." Kalanda said of competition for places on the team.
Mustafa Kiragga is the other forward at Express who will be licking his fingers for an opportunity to impress this season.
With two goals in two games, Kalanda will turn his guns towards Mbarara City on Wednesday in search of yet another goal to stay in the golden boot conversation.
