Matchday 8

21-22 November 2020

Juventus will target three important league points when they welcome Cagliari to the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Saturday 21 November 2020, kick-off at 22:45. The match is one of 10 spread over 21-22 November as part of Matchday 8 in the 2020-21 Serie A season.

Juventus played to a fourth draw in Serie A this season when they were held 1-1 at Lazio on November 8, conceding a late goal to miss out on a full haul of three points after Cristiano Ronaldo had given them a first-half lead.

Manager Andrea Pirlo says attention to detail – and not allowing slip-ups such as against Lazio – will be key to their title hopes: “We played a great game, they never had a shot on target. Championships are won if we take care of every detail, we mismanaged the ball in the final ten seconds and they scored the equaliser.

“The head is the most important thing, if you go on the pitch with a not positive attitude you do bad performances. Too bad for the result we deserved more,” he added.

Cagliari, meanwhile, claimed a third win from their last four league matches when goals from Joao Pedro and Nahitan Nandez saw them defeat Sampdoria 2-0 at home.

“Aside from the advantage of having an extra man, we defended better compared to previous matches in which we weren’t determined enough,” said Cagliari manager Eusebio Di Francesco. “The great thing about Nandez is how versatile he is, as he can do a job wherever you put him and above all is ready to do the work in any role. I believe that in a 4-3-3 formation, his natural position would be in the three-man midfield.”

In head-to-head stats, Juventus and Cagliari have met in 41 matches across all competitions since 1993. The Bianconeri have claimed 26 wins compared to five for the Isolani, while 10 games have been drawn.

Juve crushed Cagliari 4-0 in the teams' first Serie A meeting last season, but the return game in Sardinia saw the Isolani win 2-0 in July 2020 thanks to goals from Luca Gagliano and Gio Simeone.
