The Phoenix Suns will have the chance to kill off the defending champions Los Angeles Lakers when the teams meet for Game 6 in their NBA Playoffs, Western Conference First Round tie, set for the Staples Center in LA, California on Friday 4 June 2021.
The teams met in Game 5 of the series on Wednesday, with the Suns triumphing 115-85 at their Talking Stick Arena, thanks to 30 points from Devin Booker. The result means Phoenix can end the Lakers’ reign as NBA champions in this Friday morning clash in the ‘City of Angels’.
"There's nobody that's scared of the moment," Suns guard Booker said. "We're a confident team.”
He added, "I just wanted to be aggressive. In studying film [of previous games], I think I passed up a lot of quick ones."

"We just played our style," Suns guard Chris Paul said. "We kept the pace going, shared the ball. We just played the way that we play."
Lakers coach Frank Vogel explained, "We didn't play well on either side of the ball. We'll find out what we are made of and how bad we want this [in Game 6]."
The Lakers will need a powerhouse performance from LeBron James, though he admitted that Phoenix were miles better in the midweek showdown.
"We got our ass kicked. It is that simple," James said after losing consecutive first-round games for the first time in his 15-year career. "They did whatever they wanted to win this game."

In head-to-head stats, the Suns and the Lakers have met in 67 Playoff games since 1968-69, with Los Angeles claiming 47 wins compared to 20 for Phoenix. The teams’ last Playoff series prior to 2020-21 was in 2009-10, with the Lakers winning 4-2.
The winner of this Playoff series will advance to face the Portland Trail Blazers or Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semifinals later this month.
