Hideki Matsuyama will be eager to become the first non-American to win the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
The Japanese superstar has established himself as one of the best golfers in the world and he is currently ranked second in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Matsuyama is the first-ever Japanese professional golfer to win a men's major
golf championship – the 2021 Masters Tournament.
The Sendai-based golfer, who competes in the PGA and Japan Tours, has 15 worldwide wins, eight career top-10 finishes in major championships, and four Presidents Cup appearances.

Matsuyama is a two-time winner of tournaments in the World Golf Championships, two-time winner of the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
His six wins on the PGA Tour make him the most successful Japanese member of the PGA tour having surpassed Asian legend Masashi Ozaki.
The 29-year-old was crowned 2021 Masters' Tournament champion after he finished with an overall score of 278 (−10), one shot ahead of runner-up Will Zalatoris.
Matsuyama hopes to continue inspiring young Japanese golfers as he prepares for this year's Rocket Mortgage Classic.
“Hopefully I’ll be a pioneer in this and many other Japanese will follow,” said Matsuyama.
“I’m glad to be able to open the floodgates hopefully, and many more will follow me. It’s thrilling to think that there are a lot of youngsters in Japan watching today.
“Hopefully in five, ten years, when they get a little older, hopefully some of them will be competing on the world stage.”
