Brooks Koepka will be determined to emulate golf icon Tiger Woods when he takes part in the 2021 US Open at Torrey Pines.

The American star has won this tournament twice and he will join his compatriot Woods on three titles if he wins this year's competition.

Koepka was on top of his game when he lifted back-to-back US Open titles between 2017 and 2018.

Koepka enjoyed more success in another major golf tournament, PGA Championship as he won the event twice in 2018 and 2019.

Therefore, the talented player became the first golfer in history to hold back-to-back titles in two majors simultaneously.

Koepka clinched the 2021 Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale in Arizona, the USA in February and it remains his last win on the PGA.

The four-time major winner finished in a tie for second place at the 2021 PGA Championship last month - a final round 74 saw him finish two shots behind Phil Mickelson; who became the oldest major champion at the age of 50.

Koepka then missed the cut by two shots at the recent Palmetto Championship in South Carolina, the USA, but he has explained that he is not worried.

“I just need tournament reps and trying to hit different shots on your competition. I’ve missed so much of the season just with the knee, where I feel like I’m already a little bit behind," Koepka said.

"I like where my game’s at. I’m striking it well, putting it well. So I don’t see anything wrong. It’s just, like I said, maybe a little lack of focus and maybe — these weeks before the majors, I start thinking about next week instead of where I’m at.

"It’s not an excuse, but it just needs to be better. I need to be where I’m at currently, even more present in this tournament than thinking about next week.”

Willie Anderson, Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus are the most decorated players in the history of the US Open having won four titles each.
