Kobs falter in Jinja, Pirates Cruise

Betway Kobs will need a good run of circuits to catch up with Black Pirates who are on course after the first two activities of the season.

The Pirates have now garnered maximum points from the two events Kobs won last year and look like they will be the team to beat this season.

The sea robbers maintained their winning touch in Jinja as they routed hosts Jinja Hippos in the final to lift the Jinja Sevens at Dam Waters.

Bobby Musinguzi's charges beat hosts Jinja Hippos 26-5 in the final and had earlier defeated Toyota Buffaloes 17-5 at the semi-final stage.

Pirates will ride on their deep squad this season with the youthful side trying to complete a clean sweep of titles.

Having won the Uganda Cup and their first ever league title, the Sevens title is what's left for Uganda's on-form outfit.

Head coach Musinguzi revealed that the Pirates Rugby journey is one that involves hard work, patience, team work and God.

Betway sponsored Kobs fell to Jinja Hippos at the semis and missed out on the chance to keep Pirates within close range.

The competition returns to Kampala this weekend with Toyota Buffaloes hosting their first ever event at Kyadondo.

Pirates and Kobs are still leading the way in the chase for this year's title with the latter looking for their fourth successive Uganda Cup.
