Kasito shines as Rugby Cranes down Ghana

RUGBY AFRICA CUP:

GROUP C RESULT

Uganda 55-12 Ghana

Adrian Kasito took all the headlines as the Rugby Cranes got back to action after close to two years of inactivity.

The Betway Kobs back scored 13 points off his boot as Uganda defeated Ghana 55-12 to start business in the Rugby Africa Cup.

Named to start at full back, Kasito took over kicking duties after skipper Ivan Magomu fluffing the first conversion of the game.

Kasito was filling the shoes of Philip Wokorach and his display showed that he is ready to take his chance.

The utility back has played as a scrum half and full back so far in his career but prefers the full back position which gives him a clear sight of proceedings.

He has the ability to take care of a high ball, attack spaces and is a willing defender which makes him a good option for the Cranes.

Solomon Okia and eighth man Desire Ayera bagged two tries each while Faraji Odugo, Brian Odongo, Ronald Kanyanya and Aaron Ofoywroth all crossed the white chalk to hand Uganda victory at a near empty Kyadondo Rugby Grounds. The victory left Uganda top of Group C with a clash against Algeria to follow this Sunday.

Coaches Brian Makalama and Bobby Musinguzi now know that the Rugby Cranes have one foot in the quarterfinals of the tournament that also acts as the 2023 Rugby World Cup qualifying event.

Ghana will look to revive their chances when they face Algeria on Wednesday at Kyadondo.
