Kalanda leaves Express

Frank Kalanda and Express FC have parted ways just a few days after the club was handed last season's league title.

The striker's contract expired at the end of June and the club elected not to renew.

Kalanda had joined Express for his second stint which has lasted two seasons.

He was the club's main striker and top scorer in the 2019/2020 season but found playing time hard to come by under Wasswa Bbosa in the just-concluded campaign.

After the two seasons, Machete leaves with 18 goals in 52 matches.

He scored just six goals in his last season with Erick Kambale considered the main striker for the Red Eagles.

After being crowned league champions, Express will carry Uganda's flag in the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League.

A replacement for the lanky striker will have to be found by the club to strengthen the team and add to its depth before continental football.
