UEFA EURO 2020 Championship

Final

Italy v England

London, England
Sunday, 11 July 2021
Kick-off is at 9 pm CAT

England will be looking to win the UEFA EURO title for the first time when they lock horns with Italy in the final on July 11.

This is also the Three Lions' first-ever appearance in the final after they claimed their maiden win in the semi-finals against Denmark as they ran out 2-1 winners after extra-time on Wednesday.

Prior to that, England had appeared in two semi-finals and lost to Yugoslavia at the 1968 tournament and Germany at the 1996 tournament.

The Three Lions are now undefeated in their last six matches in the European Championship having registered five victories and one draw.

The last time they tasted a defeat in the competition was against Iceland, who won 2-1 at the EURO 2016 Round of 16 match which was played at the Allianz Riviera in Nice, France.

The last meeting between Italy and England was on 23 March 2018.

The two teams played to a 1-1 draw in an international friendly match that was played at the Wembley Stadium.

Harry Kane, the England captain, says their experience from the 2018 FIFA World Cup helped them reach the EURO final after securing a win over Denmark.

“This goes to show how we have learned from the 2018 World Cup. It’s about showing it on the pitch and we did it today," Kane said.

"It was the first time we were behind, credit to them, they had a great free-kick but we stayed calm, there was no panic, we kept the ball, we kept going into spaces, and we created more chances after that.

“In the second half, we controlled it well, we had a few half chances. These matches are about having the belief and digging in and we definitely have that as a squad."
