The sixth leg of the competition came with Pirates leading defending champions Betway Kobs by five points and that gap has since widened. Kobs crashed out of the tournament at the quarters as they fell to Mongers.

Having fallen at the semi-final hurdle in the Henry Rujumba Sevens, Pirates were not willing to lose the Coronation Cup and they called upon their national team players.

Eventual player of the tournament Timothy Kisiga and Ivan Magomu were in superb form for the to be crowned champions.

To book their place in the final, Pirates defeated Rujumba Sevens victors Toyota Buffaloes 14-00 to avenge their loss at the same stage last week.
