29 April - 2 May 2021

Dustin Johnson will be determined to win the Valspar Championship title for the first time when he competes in Tampa, Florida.

The American star is coming into this tournament as the top-ranked player in the world and he will be keen to maintain his position at the top.

Johnson has already tasted success this year having clinched the Saudi International in February for the second time; it was his 9th victory on the European Tour.

The name nicknamed DJ will be hoping to return to winning ways after failing to defend his Masters' Tournament title earlier this month.

DJ's reign as Masters champion lasted only through two rounds of the 2021 tournament which was won by Hideki Matsuyama.

Johnson missed the cut at this year's event after winning the 2020 Masters last November and fell two strokes outside the cut line after playing 36 holes in 5 over par.

The 36-year-old, who won the 2016 US Open, has now set his sights on this week's Valspar Championship title.

Johnson admitted that he was disappointed after failing to defend his Masters' title and he will be hoping to produce a better performance at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club.

“It was disappointing. Thursday was tough. But still, a couple three-putts on Thursday and then double the last hole, even though I kind of got it around pretty well," Johnson said.

“And then the same thing on Friday; I played good enough to shoot a good score. You’ve got to hole putts if you want to play well, and I did not do that.

"I had four three-putts on Friday and missed the cut by a couple. Hit it in the water on 15, felt like I hit a really good shot there. You take those away and I’m right in the mix starting the weekend.”
