James Ijongat staying fit despite lockdown

Betway Kobs flyhalf James Ijongat is trying to stay in shape amidst the COVID-19 pandemic that has put a stop to all sports activities in the world.

The halfback revealed that this long break will show how serious they are as players since it is up to them now to keep fit.

"I try to work out from home and this will help me stay in shape," he said when contacted.

"Our discipline will be tested and the results will show after the lockdown," he added.

Rugby league action will now take a longer break following government's extension of the lockdown for another 21 days.

The Uganda Rugby Union recently revealed they would allow teams at least ten days to get back into shape after the lockdown.

The Union had released a statement urging teams to prepare for a possible return to action in May.

The current lockdown ends on May 5th and that could mean league action returns in the middle of May or the next month.

Ijongat's coach Davis Kiwalabye says the players are now their own supervisors and must stay in shape despite the situation.

“It is now up to the players. We advised them on what to do and we are monitoring,”

Kobs are second on the log, five points behind table leaders Hima Cement Heathens.
