The Seagulls have eased their relegation fears on the back of a five-game unbeaten run which included wins over both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool before a 1-1 draw away to Burnley last time out.

Villa, on the other hand, have won three of their last five matches following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Saturday as they continue their quest for European football.

"I've just been told that we've matched our points tally from last season after 21 games which just shows the level of improvement," said Villa boss Dean Smith following their win over the Gunners.

"The players know that my desire is to be more consistent still. The last couple of games, you just look at West Ham and today and there's a big difference in terms of the performances. We need to be a more consistent team if we're to be challenging in the top eight or top 10 in this league."

Brighton claimed a 2-1 victory over their opponents at Villa Park earlier this season with goals from Danny Welbeck and Solomon March either side of a Ezri Konsa equalizer. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw at Amex Stadium last season.
