Heathens Halt Betway Kobs Unbeaten Run

Betway Kobs will now start preparing to start another good run of form after losing to Hima Cement Heathens for the first time this season. The table leaders had won six games in a row and were favourites against the defending champions at Kyadondo on Saturday.

The Hima Heathens had a chance to put the first points on the board but Chris Lubanga couldn't split the posts after Kobs were penalised.  James Ijongat gave Kobs the lead with two penalties before fullback Joseph Oyet fed off a loose ball to sprint and cross the white line. Lubanga added the extras for the home side to lead 7-6.
Adrian Kasiito produced Betway Kobs' first try to regain the lead (7-11) and go into the halftime break with a 4-point cushion. The second half brought the best out of the hosts while Betway Kobs collapsed to ship in points and eventually fall to their rivals.

With Heathens leading 18-11 after a try from winger Lawrence Ssebuliba, Justin Kimono touched down and Ijongat converted to level matters. The game looked headed for a stalemate but Heathens late charge ended with Ssebuliba getting his second on the day to condemn Betway Kobs to their first loss of the season.
Betway Kobs collected a single point from the game in form of a losing bonus and remain top of the log, two points ahead of second placed Buzz Pirates. For collecting 4 points, Heathens remain in fifth spot on the log and are still trailing Mongers, Rhinos, Pirates and Betway Kobs.

The other big encounter pitted Pirates against Rhinos and the Uganda Cup winners came out victors at Legends. Baron Kasozi and Isaac Massa had tries for Bobby Musinguzi's charges while Rhinos also conceded a penalty try.

Weekend Results:

Rhinos 10-20 Pirates
Rams 22-07 Warriors
Jinja Hippos 22-39 Buffaloes
Heathens 23-18 Betway Kobs 18
Impis 20-27 Mongers
