Gulu Wheelchair Team beneficiaries of Betway-Power community shield initiative

Betway Uganda continue to ingrain themselves into the Ugandan sports industry with their latest contribution being to Gulu Wheelchair Basketball team.

The online sports betting company used the start of the much anticipated European football season and in particular the ever popular English Premier League to make a contribution to Ugandan sport

Betway held a campaign during the Community Shield weekend where shs1,000 off every bet was supposed to be donated to a sports Charity.

This culminated into a financial package that was revealed at a brief function held at the Lugogo Indoor Arena over the weekend.



“We are proud to announce that shs5m was collected and together with Betway Power Basketball Club, we donated it to Gulu Wheelchair Basketball Association through equipment like playing Jerseys, tracksuits, balls and training kits,” revealed Betway head of communication and marketing Clive Kyazze.

The Gulu Wheel chair basketball team are set to take part in two championships starting in Mpigi on September 24.

They will then visit Kenya in October for another championship according to Paul Acaye the team coach.

“We would like to thank Betway Power for their dedication, attention and open-minded thinking and for your readiness to help with very prompt response to requests. We hope that these kits make us look like a professional team,” he added.



Power president Patrick Obalim similarly hailed Betway’s gesture that he believes go a long way in developing sport in the country.

“As power basketball, we believe in such good initiatives to develop the sports through helping those ones in need and continue to work together as a team to achieve the desired goals.”
