Getafe will chase a key victory in their race to secure European football for next season when they face Deportivo Alaves at Estadio di Mendizorroza on Monday 13 July 2020. The match is one of 10 spread across 11-13 July as part of
La Liga’s Round 36 action.
Alaves will come into the match on the back of a Friday night trip to championship-chasing Real Madrid. The Babazorros have struggled for form since the restart, though they should remain safe from the prospect of relegation.
A run of defeats saw Alaves sack coach Asier Garitano and replaced him with Juan Muniz, who will be expected to see out the season and ensure that the club remains in the top flight despite a tricky final run of fixtures.

Getafe, meanwhile, will have played in-form Villarreal on Friday night and will continue to fight for a place in European football next season. The Azulones have struggled for form away from home since the restart and will be hoping for better fortune in this game.
Manager Jose Bordalas insists that a top-four finish is not the aim for his team: “That we have been in Champions [League] positions is worth reviewing, but it is not the goal. The goal is to work the way we do. We've been labelled a big team, but it's not Getafe’s goal, much less.”
In head-to-head stats, Alaves and Getafe have met in 11 matches across all competitions. The Babazorros have claimed four wins compared to three for the Azulones, while four games have been drawn.
When the teams met in La Liga earlier this season, at Coliseum Alfonso Perez in August 2019, they played out a 1-1 draw: Jorge Molina opened the scoring for Getafe, before an equaliser from Alaves’ Joselu.
