Galilwango leads from the front as Express earn first points

Disan Galilwango played a starring role as Express recorded a 3-2 pulsating victory over Mbarara for their first three points in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at the Prsions Ground on Tuesday evening.

The Express captain now believes the current crop can help lift the club to where it belongs having come under intense criticism from a section of the club’s fans.

“I’m happy we’ve managed to win and I’d like to thank God that He managed to let us work together as a team and get the win our first this season and I request the fans to be patient we shall lift this team and put it where it’s supposed to be in the coming games,” Galilwango explained.



“We may be new most of us but even last year we were new most of us it is just coordination which was lacking but we are going to up our game and take this team forward,” the captain stated after picking up the man of the match award for his performance.

He was involved in all three Express goals on the day, taking the corner kick which was parried into Hamdan Nsubuga’s path for the goal that levelled matters after Hillary Mukundane’s opener.
 


His influence on proceedings then increased in the second half to repay George Ssimwogerere’s faith to play him in an advanced left side role.

He skipped past two challenges as Express made a fast break before showing tremendous composure to pick out Frank Kalanda who tapped in the second goal on 65 minutes.

Jude Ssemugabi then looked to have stolen a point for Mbarara who were second best for large periods in the game before Galilwango’s late intervention.



His curling shot was spilled into the path of midfielder Daniel Shabena who finished assuredly in stoppage time for a first victory in four games that eased the pressure on coach George Ssimwogerere.

Express are now 11th on the 16-team log with four points from as many games ahead of their game against SC Villa on Friday.
