2019/20 Premier League

28th Season

Matches Played: 380
Goals Scored: 1034
Manchester City dazzled football fans with their free-flowing football as they scored goals with ease during the 2019/20 season.
With their attack led by world-class Argentine striker Sergio Aguero, the Citizens netted the most goals (102) in the league.
As a result, it is the fifth time the Citizens have reached a century of goals after 1936/37, 1957/58, 2013/14 and 2017/18 seasons, an English record.
Aguero also inked his name in the Premier League record books when he grabbed a hat-trick in City's 6-1 win over Aston Villa on 12 January 2020.

This was Aguero's 12th hattrick of his Premier League career and it took his individual tally past legendary Arsenal striker Thierry Henry's 175 goal mark.
Riyad Mahrez, the City winger, opened about the team's ability to score goals with ease having netted in their last league game of the season against Newcastle United on 08 July 2020.
“That's our team – (we know) that everyone can score - everyone has the quality to score,” Mahrez said.
"For me, I want to try to help the team and score the most goals that I can. It’s not easy but we made it easy by scoring early in the game. And after we had more control and could try to score more goals.
“I think we played good (at Southampton) we missed a lot of chances today we scored - that's the difference.”
City achieved a pass completion rate of 93.7% - the highest accuracy on record in the Premier League since 2003-04 (since detailed passing statistics first were measured).

They achieved this feat when they thumped a hapless Newcastle side 5-0 in July 2020 after the 2019/20 season resumed following a break enforced by the coronavirus pandemic.
Algerian winger Mahrez reached 10 Premier League goals in the season in the same game and this became another record set by Pep Guardiola's side.
Mahrez's goals ensured the Citizens would be the first English top-flight side to have five different players score at least 10 league goals in a single season since Everton in 1984-85 season.
Aguero (16), Mahrez (11), Raheem Sterling (20), Kevin De Bruyne (13) and Gabriel Jesus (14) were the five players, who found the back of the net 10 times or more for City.
Lastly, for the second year in a row, the Citizens were the first top European team to reach 100 goals scored in all competitions.
They achieved this when they beat Fulham 4-0 in a FA Cup 4th round match on 26 January 2020 with lethal Brazilian marksman Jesus grabbing a brace.
