Express play in the
Uganda Premier League for the first time in over three weeks when they travel away from the confines of the Betway Muteesa II Stadium to face URA.
But Ibrahim Kayiwa thinks what should have been an intimidating trip will be lessened by the fact that many of the players are used to the Mandela National Stadium.
“It won’t be so hard because that stadium is like a neutral ground it is a good stadium and we can play good football there,” he said ahead of Tuesday’s clash.
They come into the game in 11th position and 10 points behind the Tax Collectors but have improved defensively since George Ssimwogerere took charge.
“We are also now not conceding many goals, we have conceded just four in eight games (since the appointment of coach Ssimwogerere) so we are good as well defensively,” Kayiwa observed.
URA have similarly been tight at the back conceding just 10 times in 23 games and possess the league’s best defensive record.
“On Tuesday we shall put in an extra effort to improve the way we have been scoring because in the friendlies we have played before this game we have been performing well and we can score. I’m expecting a very big change in our performance tomorrow,” he added.
Express recorded a 1-0 win over Bul in their previous game, with Brian Umony scoring in the result that took them to the Uganda Cup semifinals.
They are expected to still be without striker Eric Kambale through injury while Frank Tumwesigye is also a doubt.
The first round meeting between the two teams ended in a goalless draw.
Express has meanwhile won twice and drawn the other four games of the past seven meetings between the two teams.
