Express target Vipers

Express FC are considered one of the title contenders this season after undergoing a major overhaul that has seen them sign 19 players since the end of last season.

They face their first major test to assess their current progress when they host defending champions Vipers at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The game is the second to be played since the Uganda Premier League returned after taking a long break because of the country's participation in the Chan Championship.

The Red Eagles went into the break having accumulated eight points from four games to sit seventh on the log.

Coach Wasswa Bbosa has attempted to make the best of the situation and is confident of picking maximum points.

"a lot of positive progress has happened during the break with the team, we’ve used the time to be sharper in front of goal and also understand each other better," Bossa stated.

"And just as I said in my match day programme notes, we respect vipers but our target is to get maximum points and if we execute our game plan, I am sure we shall pull through” he added.

They play a Vipers team that moved to third place following the 7-0 drubbing of new league entrants Myda on Saturday.

Express can move to second on the table with a win taking them to 11 points, one ahead of Vipers who are currently third.

Bossa has a fully fit squad to pick from with only left-back Arthur Kiggundu facing a late fitness test.

There are also no suspensions for all the available players.

Express FC’s last league win over Vipers SC came in 2016 at the now-defunct Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, Tekwo Derrick scored the only goal of the game.
