Express FC last week announced the extension of Wasswa Bbosa’s contract as head coach for the next three years.
Since then, the media has been awash with speculation about which players might join Bbosa who returned to the club late last season and helped steer it away from relegation.
And while he gave the clearest indication yet that he will be reunited with winger Godfrey Lwesibawa again next season, Bbosa gave no assurances about the other players he has previously worked with.
“It is not straightforward that all the players I have previously worked with will automatically join me here,” Bbosa insisted amid reports that a number of players he coached at Tooro would join him at Wankulukuku.
Among the names mentioned include Charles Musiige and midfielder John Byamukama while former Express captain Steven Luswata has also been cited.
“There are several young players in the league and below that we have been monitoring and we know can do a good job at Express. There is still time to conclude all those details but as the technical team we have not made any decisions yet,” he said.
After being handed the coaching role to replace George Ssimwogerere, Bbosa used the opportunity to sign free agents Arthur Kiggundu and Isa Lumu to help shore up the backline. This was in addition to the signing of playmaker Baker Lukooya and striker Eric Kambale who joined midseason.
The club then went on a run of three wins, a draw and one loss in five games to climb four places up to ninth position before the league was brought to a halt as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
