Express marks a year with Betway

Express Football Club will inevitably have found new gears to kick in and elevate on the Uganda Premier League table standings after marking a year with prime sponsors Betway.

The Red Eagles toasted to a year of improvements, albeit hiccups, on November 6 with the premier online gaming company.

“Proud members of the Betway squad,” the club posted on its official handles.

A year ago, Betway signed a Shs400m deal, the biggest in the history of the six-time league champions that would assist the club with player and technical team welfare as well as skill development in partnership with Forward Zone.

Already with the latter, left-back Disan Galiwango had trials South African club SuperSport United.

On the field, Express improved by three places to finish 10th with 40 points after 10 wins, as many draws and defeats with 30 goals scored and the same tally conceded in the 2018-19 season.

Their pursuit for an 11th crown in the Uganda Cup fell short at the semi-final stage when they were ejected by Bright Stars.

Currently, Express sits ninth on the table standings with 14 points from 12 matches and coach George Ssimwogerere is tasked to improve his back-line that has already 19 goals.

At the front, forward Frank Kalanda is second joint top scorer with six goals whereas Frank Ssenyondo has netted five times coming off the flanks.
With the Betway marriage still in progress, there is still room for improvement.
