Prior to Kiryowa Kiwanuka’s return to the club last year, Express was synonymous with conducting transfer business on the eve of the start of the league season.
But in perhaps a sign of changing times, the club on Thursday gave the clearest indication that they will approach the 2019/2020 season differently by announcing massive departures at the club a fortnight after the 2019 season
Consequently, the club released up to eight players including striker Tony Odur who was in his third stint at the club having made his debut at Wankulukuku more than 13 years ago.
He was also the club’s top scorer in the league scoring seven times despite missing a number of games particularly in the second round.

The other notable departure will be that of Ibrahim Kayiwa who was in his stint at the club having played at Vipers and Kirinya-Jinja since coming to the fore.
Pius Mbidde is the other surprise departure who arrived from Big League side Kitara FC and made many performances for the club in defensive midfield.
Defender Shafik Kakeeto who joined from Tooro two seasons back will also be leaving after losing his starting place in the team when George Ssimwogerere took charge as coach.
The defensive department further have more new faces with Kakeeto’s former central defensive partner Isaac Mutanga having been released earlier.
There will also be a new slot for a goalkeeper after Mathias Muwanga was released.
Others include Joel Male who joined from Katwe United but failed to hold down a first team place as well as Charles Musoke who played in the right back position having been signed as a midfielder.
Express finished 10
th in the 2018/2019 Uganda Premier League season, three positions up from a 13-place finish in which they survived relegation on the final of the season in 2018.
They also reached the semifinals of the Uganda Cup before being edged out on penalties by Bright Stars.
