One of the issues that stuck out like a sore thumb during last season's Uganda Premier League was the club licensing process.
The process saw many clubs forced to find alternative grounds for many of their home games while a number of players also missed large chunks of the season after failing to secure player licenses.
In order to avoid a repeat of such occurrences, domestic football governing body Fufa has embarked on a Clubs Agenda Programme ahead of the 2020/2021 season that is tentatively set to start in October this year.
In this year’s Club Licensing process, we decided to prepare clubs for licensing through the programme of Clubs Pro Agenda.
Each Club attends the programme for two days. It’s a programme that is aimed at professionalising Club football in the long run’ said Rogers Mulindwa FUFA Club Licensing Committee Chairman noted.
In trying to achieve the objective, FUFA appointed 28 instructors in nine (9) different groups that are responsible for facilitating Clubs’ officials under the Club Pro Agenda programme across the country.
Among the modules facilitated in this year's programme include Governance, Sporting Element, Finance, Infrastructure, Planning, Events, and Match Organisation, Club Licensing rules, FUFA and its development programme.
Express officials led by CEO Isaac Mwesigwa and head Wasswa Bbosa attended the two day programme on behalf of the club starting on Thursday.
Express will be looking to better last season's performance when the club finished 9th on the 16-team log with 31 points after 25 games.
The club has during the off-season also offloaded up 18 players with a substantial number of arrivals also eagerly anticipated.
