The Hammers rose up to fifth spot on the league standings following a 2-1 win over Aston Villa at London Stadium on Monday, where goals from Angelo Ogbonna and Jarrod Bowen secured a third straight top-flight victory.
"It’s something which we can’t promise the supporters and I said at the start of the season, let’s stop promising the supporters what we can do," said Moyes. "Let’s go about it and over-achieve if we can.
He added: "I think the players have over-achieved in the early part of the season in terms of their performances, which have been really good.
"We’re building on it and we’re growing in confidence. We won a little bit ugly tonight (versus Aston Villa), but I’ll take that sometimes."
United are also on a three-game winning run after coming from behind to defeat Southampton 3-2 at St Mary's last weekend. Edinson Cavani teed up Brundo Fernandes for United's first before bagging a quick-fire brace to lead the visitors to a memorable win.
"I thought we were excellent all day long," said Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. "We played some fantastic football, created chances, five or six opportunities,
"Of course, it's great to get three points in the way we did it, the comeback, the tradition of this club, it is something this team is getting better at as well."
United, though, could be without Cavani for the next three matches as he may be the subject of an investigation from the Football Association after allegedly using a racially offensive term in a social media post.

The corresponding fixture last season ended in a 2-0 win for West Ham with goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and Aaron Cresswell leading the hosts to all three points.
