Emmanuel Okwi, captain on the day, put the visitors ahead with a superb finish after 22 minutes.
Allan Kyambadde hit the upright before the break as the Cranes failed to get more goals in the first half.
The home side greatly improved in the second half and Kenneth Miguna leveled matters to deny Mubiru and his charges victory on enemy territory.

“I commend players for their efforts, we managed the game well and tried to share the ball, we had a fair of our chances though we didn’t use them accordingly and it was the same case for Kenya,” Mubiru noted after the game.
“The boys gave it all and it was an entertaining game which the fans enjoyed. It is a fair result because Kenya is a good strong team and they were playing at home,"
Mubiru handed starting slots to a host of locally based players in a bid to ready them for the upcoming CHAN qualifier against Burundi later this month.
“I had new boys in the team but they managed to play with confidence and it shows that we are on the right track.”
KCCA's centre back John Revita started alongside Timothy Awany at the heart of the Cranes defence while Paul Willa and Musitafah Kizza were the full backs.
Allan Okello and Charles Lukwago are the other locally based players that started. Uganda will return to action against Burundi on September 20 in CHAN qualifiers.
