The Cityzens thumped West Brom 5-0 on Tuesday evening to move up into top spot ahead Manchester United who welcome the Blades to Old Trafford on Wednesday.

"The last thing I'm thinking of is the table," said City manager Pep Guardiola following their win at the Hawthorns which stretched the club's unbeaten run in the league to 11 matches. "Now I want to come back home safely, have a few days off and Sheffield United is all I'm concerned about.

"We still have 19 games to go in this incredible marathon. We are going to drop points and lose games but the important thing is to be calm, like we were when we were 12th in the table and understand why we didn't win that game and immediately win the next one.

"This is all I'm concerned about now. It's the Premier League, welcome, it's so tough for everyone. You know it's competitive but we have had a good run."

Key to City's run of form has been Germany international IIkay Gundogan. The Cityzens midfielder has scored seven goals in his last eight matches and has helped fill the void left by the injured Kevin de Bruyne.

"There's not really a secret," Gundogan said of his scoring streak. "I'm just in the right spaces at the right moment. I'm in a bit more of an offensive role, if I get the chance close to the box I try to make the right decisions."

Sheffield head into back-to-back matches in Manchester having won just once this season and on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur which has left them rooted to the bottom of the league standings.

A solitary strike from Kyle Walker secured a 1-0 win for City in the reverse fixture at Bramall Lane earlier this season. Goals from Sergio Aguero and De Bruyne led City to a 2-0 victory over the Blades in the corresponding fixture at Etihad Stadium last season.
