Chelsea FC will be looking to reach the UEFA Champions League final for the third time when they face Real Madrid on April 27

The English giants have won two semi-final ties with the first one coming in 2008 when they defeated their English rivals Liverpool FC.

Their second semi-final triumph came in 2012 when they stunned a much-fancied Spanish side FC Barcelona in the last four.

Chelsea went on to lose to Manchester United in 2008 in an all English final against Manchester United.

However, the Blues did clinch their maiden Champions League title in 2012 after defeating German giants Bayern Munich in the final.

Chelsea are now looking to go all the way and clinch their second Champions League title this season.

The Blues will look to Olivier Giroud with the France international having scored six goals in the current competition.

Mason Mount, the Chelsea midfielder, was pleased to have helped his side reach the semi-finals after overcoming Portugal's FC Porto 2-1 on aggregate in the quarter-finals.

"The performance in the first leg really set us up. To be two goals ahead going into game was obviously a massive positive for us," Mount said.

"But we still had to play on the night and give everything and we knew it was going to be a tough game. They got the goal late on which made it a bit difficult for us and a bit nervy at the end.

"But we came through it and we’re in the semi-finals. So it’s a massive performance. Last night was about getting through and we accomplished that."

Madrid will host Chelsea for the first time in a competitive match.

The last time there was a competitive meeting between the two teams was in the 1998 UEFA Super Cup in Monaco and Chelsea emerged 1-0 winners.
