The Blues have put together a six-game unbeaten run in the league and head into this weekend's match on the back of a 4-1 win over Sheffield United.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is of the opinion that their win over the Blades came courtesy of what he described as their best performance of the season thus far.
"It was our best performance of the season in complete terms," said Lampard.

"Sheffield United are a really strong team. They’re very good at taking momentum in games and they did that in the early stages. We didn’t deal with it brilliantly and of course the goal we’re not happy with. The reaction was important, and the reaction from the team in the rest of the game was spot-on.
"We are in a good place, but the level that has been set by Manchester City and Liverpool in the last few years means we have to be in that good place every game and every week. That’s the gap we have to close. I certainly won’t jump ahead of myself, albeit I’m really pleased with a lot of the signs from today [versus Sheffield]."
Newcastle slumped to a 2-0 loss away to Southampton last time out as they entered the international break in 13th spot on the log standings, four points and eight places behind Chelsea.

The corresponding fixture last season ended in a 1-0 win for the Magpies. Isaac Hayden netted a 90th minute winner for the hosts as they ended a three-game losing streak versus the Blues.
