Chelsea, Palace set for London derby

2019/20 Premier League

Round 12

8-10 November 2019

Chelsea and Crystal Palace will meet for a Premier League London derby at Stamford Bridge on Saturday 9 November 2019, kick-off at 15:30. The clash is one of 10 in the 12th round of England’s top flight this coming weekend.

Palace winger Wilfried Zaha

Chelsea continued their outstanding form with a 2-1 away win at Watford this past weekend, thanks to goals from Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic. The result equalled a club record streak of seven consecutive away wins.

"I want the team to have a lot of energy and to be difficult to play against, but after that, I'm blessed by having so many high quality players,” said manager Frank Lampard. "We've got Jorginho and [Mateo] Kovacic while Mason [Mount] has announced himself - I can go throughout the team.

"The fans want to see good football, and I want the ball to be moved quickly, and be a little bit unpredictable. I want you to be able to see a clip of us playing out but also have the ability to go long and hit Tammy."

Palace have enjoyed a fine start to the season and find themselves in the top half of the table despite a 2-0 loss at home to Leicester City this past weekend.

"Preparing for another talented team and an awful lot of players in the team with the capacity individually to hurt you,” explained manager Roy Hodgson after the loss to the Foxes. “We can do no more than to accept that today was not going to be a day where we could get the points we were hoping to get. We go to Chelsea with the hope we're going to do it there instead."

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic

In head-to-head stats, Chelsea and Palace have met in 35 previous matches. The Blues have claimed 20 wins compared to six for the Eagles, while nine games have been drawn.

The teams’ Premier League meetings last season saw Chelsea complete a league double: the Blues won 3-1 at home in November 2018 and 1-0 away in December of the same year. Chelsea have won their last three matches in succession against Palace.
