Cardiff City’s last stand?

2018/19 Premier League

Round 37 preview

3-6 May 2019

Cardiff City may make their last stand in the Premier League when the 2018/19 season has its penultimate round this coming weekend.

Cardiff’s hopes of avoiding relegation rest firmly on two matches in Round 37: their home clash against Crystal Palace on the evening of Saturday 4 May and Brighton & Hove Albion’s trip to Arsenal the following day.

Brighton & Hove Albion will be looking to secure safety.

In fact, the Seagulls’ clash in London may not even come into the equation: should the Bluebirds lose to the Eagles in the Welsh capital, it will seal their fate in joining Huddersfield Town and Fulham in relegation to the English second-tier.

However, a win over Palace would breath new hope into Neil Warnock’s side, who would close to within a point of 17th-placed Brighton and hope that the Gunners can shrug off their recent wretched form and defeat the South Coast side at the Emirates.

Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha.

This would then tee up a dramatic finale on May 12 in which Cardiff and Brighton will fight for their top-flight lives with game against Manchester United (away) and Manchester City (home) respectively.
