Bullish Otim welcomes Uganda Cup quarterfinal challenge

Express FC are in a buoyant mood after ejecting URA at the round of 16 stage in the Uganda Cup with goalkeeper Denis Otim sounding bullish after the team's latest exploits.

The Red Eagles held out for a goalless draw of their return leg game against the tax collectors to progress 2-1 on aggregate after winning the first leg.

The sequence left Express unbeaten in four meetings with their opponents this season winning three of those games.

"We had a huge game, the surface wasn't favourable for us due to the heavy rain but we've made it to the quarter-finals and we're ready for anyone coming up. We now go back home to correct our mistakes and bounce back stronger," Otim told the club's website.

The Wasswa Bbosa coached side put up a resilient display on the day frustrating their hosts in a game in which captain Enock Walusimbi and midfielder Mahad Kakooza soldiering on until the final whistle despite sustaining nose injuries that left them bloodied.

While they rode their luck towards the end, Express created better opportunities early on and could have ended the tie as a contest if Charles Musiige was more efficient when through on goal.

Eric Kambale was also guilty of missing two opportunities when his usual calmness in front of goal deserted him when presented with chances in front of goal.

Express now switch attention back to league action when they play Police at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku on Saturday.
